What to expect

Before your first conversation

How do you decide what fits my family?
We start with your child's age and eligibility, then your goals and monthly budget. Children born 2025 to 2028 may qualify for the $1,000 federal contribution, which usually makes a Trump Account the natural first layer. From there we look at custodial accounts and childhood life insurance based on what you want the money to do and when. You see every option side by side before deciding anything.
Who can open a plan?
Any parent or legal guardian. A Trump Account can be opened for any child under 18 with a Social Security number, with no earned income required. Custodial accounts and childhood insurance have their own eligibility, which we confirm for your specific situation. We are licensed to conduct business in all 50 states.
What information should I have ready?
For the first conversation, just three things: your child's birth year, a rough sense of your monthly budget, and your goals. If you decide to open accounts, we will then need your child's Social Security number and standard identification, which is required by federal law for any financial account.
Why do you need that information?
Identity verification is a legal requirement for opening financial accounts in the United States. Your information is used only to open and service the accounts you choose, and we never sell it. Our full practices are described in our Privacy Policy and Disclosures.
What if I change my mind?
The consultation is free and there is no obligation at any point. If you decide to move forward and later change your mind, insurance policies include a state mandated free look period during which you can cancel for a full refund, and accounts can be left unfunded. We will always tell you exactly where you stand.
What happens after the accounts are open?
Contributions run automatically at the amount you chose. You can see your plan summary and documents in the client portal, and we sit down together at least once a year to review and adjust. When something changes in the rules, like Trump Account updates, we reach out to you.

The growth calculator shows what your monthly amount could hypothetically become by 18 and by 65, including the $1,000 federal contribution.

When the money is needed

How your child accesses the plan later

Each layer of the plan has its own rules, and that is by design: some money is locked for the long run, and some stays flexible.

  • Trump Account: locked until age 18, then traditional IRA rules generally apply. Growth is tax deferred; earnings are taxed as ordinary income at withdrawal.
  • Custodial accounts: managed by you and transferred to your child at the age of majority in your state.
  • Life insurance cash value: accessible during life through withdrawals or policy loans, for college, a first home, or anything else. Loans and withdrawals reduce cash value and the death benefit.

Educational summary only, not tax or legal advice. Program rules are subject to change; see our Disclosures.
